Spotted: Walk for Oral Cancer Awareness

Went to grab lunch with my wife after our trips this weekend to one of our usual local spots – Dengeo’s. As I walked in I saw this poster as I entered.

I was sad to find out that I was one day late for this walk, but I still think it was worthy to be posted on our blog and in our Spotted section.  In doing a little more digging through the Oral Cancer Awareness website, I discovered that there were over 600 people who fund raised for this event and raised over $50,000 for oral cancer awareness! I think that is pretty amazing what a walk at a suburban lake can really do for any cause.  Not only were they able to get so much money in donations, they were able to provide awareness to the community on this very important issue that needs to be seen.

It is such an inspiration because this is something that could be easily not seen in a window, but when I looked up and researched a little more about what was going on, I had to share this event, even though it has already passed.  But just because it was this past weekend, it does not mean this cause is over.  Since this was their first time holding this event, I am hoping this is just the beginning!
