In light of the Pride festivities in Chicago today, I figured there’d be no better time to highlight what Nike has been doing to support the LGBT community on a whole new scale. Just last week, Nike launched #BETRUE, a series of three shoes (launching in three cities – NYC, San Francisco and Portland) commemorating Pride month. As each of the three cities are quite different, the shoes themselves have their own personality, too. Sadly for us in Chicago, we’d have to fly out to any of these cities to snag a pair of our own…though the shoes are so cool it might be worth it (Anyone willing to pick me up a pair?! Haha). Aside from this #BETRUE campaign, Nike has been busy showing its commitment to the LGBT community in other ways. They also hosted the first global summit focused on eliminating anti-LGBT discrimination from sports. Pretty amazing.
